2019 Space Needle Shootout Champions!
Space Needle Shootout is the perennial December Tournament in the Northwest to play against great local, regional and international (Canada) teams. Matching up against the Canadian teams who are just coming off their field season is perhaps the most anticipated for our Bellevue teams and there have been some incredible games over the years. This year was no different! All of our Bellevue teams competed at every level with two teams going undefeated, High School Elite and 5/6 Festival! After two straight years of graduating 16+ Seniors, this years Bellevue team was a balanced and new mix of Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores. They proved to be an exciting group of players to watch with key highlights being a dominate time of possession (Grey Sunderland faceoffs, Logan Erisman transition), ball movement, assisted goals, awesome finishes (entire offense led by Dan Marino, Wiley Bryant, Zach Edelhertz, Jack Mylroie and Sean Quigley) and great work in the goal (Brandon Hunyh). Bellevue stormed through their first three games allowing only 8 goals, while scoring 28. This setup the greatly anticipated matchup with Claremont is the semi-finals. Claremont’s dominance of Space Needle Shootout is unprecedented; winning five of the last six years. It was a game of momentum swings, physical and incredible lacrosse that landed the score 3-3 at half. Both teams traded goals but it was Claremont that pulled ahead 6-4 with three minutes to play and setup what will be a truly memorable sequence for Bellevue. Grey Sunderland won the next faceoff and raced down the field to score and make it 5-6. Two minutes to go, Bellevue loses the face but forces the turnover and quickly transitions the ball to offense where Sean Quigley scored to tie the game with seconds left in regulation! To sudden death we go where once again Sunderland secures the face and sets up the game winning goal by Aidan Overton!! The Championship Game saw Bellevue meet another team from Canada, Royal Bay Lacrosse Academy. Keeping the momentum going, Bellevue never trailed in this game, dominating possession and finding the net. Bellevue led 4-2 at half and Bryant’s shot at the start of the second half pointedly made sure Bellevue would never look back, going on to win the 2019 Space Needle Shootout Championship 9-5! This is just the second time in seven years Bellevue has stood atop this late fall classic. Well done Bellevue!

Two Alumni Games with alumni as far back as early 80's. A nice size crowd enjoyed the games, sun and BBQ burgers and hotdogs. A Band of Brothers spanning four decades of Bellevue Lacrosse. What a day. Thanks for coming and see you next year!
